Why write about literature? *Written assignments have two purposes: 1.) To give you additional/practice in wroting clearly &persuasively. 2.) To deepen your understanding to literary works by leading you to think about a few works more searchingly than you might do. *These purposes are private (your thoughts); You have to make it public to make it successful. *For whom do you write? •The audience for whom you write will govern both the content & expression of your paper. •You need to know your readers background (race,ethnicity,etc.) •write for people to enjoy it or people who will benefit your knowledge.

Open-Ended 2: Persepolis

In the novel, Persepolis, Marjane was born in a horrific enviornemnt; where she see's deathness, rebellion and illegal doings. Back then and still now children are exposed to the adult life in a very young age. Marjane since little understood what was happening but how she was still a younging she was innocent to any of the stuff that was happening around her. By Marjane being exposed to stuff like this can really harm her but it can also help her because she knows what happening to her and to her country so if anything she is ready.

There are so many kids out in the world exposed to things only adults should know and do. Nowadays criminals use children for a lot of stuff like prostitution, servants, as their own personal pets and trafficing illegal drugs or goods. This is sick. Kids shouldn't be used as animals or as sex slaves they are suppose to grow up in a good enviornment with love. Marjane wasn't really expose to that but she was exposed when rebellion happened in her country; she even protested in a very young age. She also smoked at a young age because she wanted everyone to stop treating her like an naive child because she wasn't, she knew what was happening. Probably if Marjane didn't live with her parents there her life would of been different and it would of been easier on her. But life doesn't work like that, you have to survive in your own jungle, everyone has to fight somehow in life.

Open Ended 1 - Persepolis

Graphics have a big impact on a novel. It's show happiness, sadneess, horror and even comedy! These illustrations are really helpful because it does not only display help you understand but it also gives you an imagination of what's happening by making the images into a show. I believe that graphics make a big impact on reading and it's always helpful in any kind of writing especially if your writing a memoir about your childhood.

Having illustrations pop into your head is wickedly awesome. I love the feeling of getting these characters to move in my head like if I was watching a movie. Reading Persepolis wasn't hard at all, it was so entertaining that I couldn't put the book down once I started reading. The illustrations showed me the setting of the place and kept me on track what was happeing because on regular pooring novels they always talk about the setting and they're constantly showing the emotions the character is facing which gets boring later on. I rather see the setting and see facial expressions to get an understanding how bad or how good the person is in the novel. To be sincere I can't wait to read the next Persepolis book, I loved this graphic novel not onl because it was a black and white but because it was a memoir that had a little of every kind of genre in it. That's why if someone asked me what kind of graphic novel they should read I would say Persepolis.

Hurricane Sandy

Hey everyone well I'm still a little shaky about the Hurricane. It was so scary sleeping alone just because on that day of the hurricane a big oak tree fell by my window. THAT'S SCARY! I had 4 days without power and it was so difficult to get stuff done. Well I'm glad to know that everyone is okay and all my condolences go to those people who have lost loved ones. This really made me appreciate everything I have especially knowing that my family is okay. Hope everyone is okay!

El Velador

I just finished watching the award-winning film of Natalia Almalda, "El Velador" and all I have to say is that it was captivating. This film didn't need a lot of words to make the film stand out because all of the footage made sure we got the point of the video. To tell you the truth I wasn't really amazed that the drug lords were being praise because I knew about the life of a Cartel. No, I didn't know a Cartel but in one of my classes we talked about it. It was an interesting subject to learn about and the only reason to why Cartels are being prayed for was because they were a blessing to some people. Those people praise the drug lords because they gave them somewhat of security and help when they needed it. Something that amazed me was when I saw families at their loved ones funeral and for some reason it felt like a home to them. Little kids running around, the wives cleaning the funeral place, it felt like somewhat a home situation. It was a great film, I understood what was happening without always being explained.

Summer Plans

Summer is almost here, its suppose to be relaxing but I guess I'll be working. I wanted to leave to Highstown for the whole summer but I guess I won't because of my job. I know for certainly I'll be going out to parties, the beach,lakes with my family and hopefully it's a good summer, last year sucked so I hope for the best! :)

Spring Break!

Great news, I dont work this whole week! AHHHH sleeping all day. This break I'm gonna really hug my pillow, ahhhh vacation and maybe I'll leave to NY, have fun,go out. :) Hope everyone has a good spring break too!

HSPA

AHHHHH HSPA is over! The math part was pretty easy,short and it went fast. The language arts part was pretty long, 2 persuasive and an expository essay with 4 Open-ended! Well the persuasive,ohhhh I'm so proud I beasted on that! ;D The expository was easyyyyyyy, awwww I'm so proud of myself because I studied. Hopefully everyone passed, now stress free! :D

Winter Break!

Hey everyone! Well this winter break probably I'll be resting my eyes pretty much, so much stress from school. Well who doesn't love winter break? First of all it doensn't even feel like winter, the weather is getting nicer[Yesssss :D] Like come on its free time to do nothing, hopefully my teachers don't give out h.w or projects like last year -___-. Midterms

Midterms- the time when you overwhelm about everything! Oh my...I still don't know all my grades but hopefully I did good on them, i just want to pass. The English and History midterms were easy! The math, yeaaaahh I'm not good with numbers especially how my teachers confuses me and everyone but at least I passed. The only midterm I'm worried about it Adv. Physics, yeah I'm actually scared to know what I got.

2012 Woot Woot!

Wow 2012 is here already! Time sure passes by fast, doesn't it? This year my only resolution would be to stop being too nice with people,  most people don't appreciate my friendship and most likely they have stabbed me in the back but ehhhh it doesn't matter because friends come and go and family always is by your side. This year it's all about growing up and being more independent than ever, I just simply wish for another year with all my family. Therefore hopefully this year I have a lot of prosperity and a lot of love, I really wish the best for all of you too! :] Now I simply can't wait for 2013 when i graduate!
